Plásticos NOVEL do Nordeste S.A. was founded in 1975 by its current President and CEO, the economist Luiz Antônio de Oliveira, in partnership with the group holding the Pepsi-Cola franchise for the State of Bahia. In 1979 a new partnership was formed with the long-term leader in the beverage crate sector of the Brazilian market, and in 1989 the company became fully family-owned as it has since remained.
NOVEL has two industrial units, in Paraná and Bahia.
NOVEL specializes in injected plastic products and the product range includes personal protection items such as safety helmets, faceshields and earmuffs, many of which have been approved as meeting international standards in Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia. NOVEL also manufactures various other standard and original products such as restaurant table service signs, door protector signs, plastic floors and ceilings, thermal boxes, traffic signs and signals, as well as vehicle parts for Ford under special order, and, especially, a wide range of multi-trip plastic boxes and crates for the transport and storage of food, beverages and non-food products, with special advantages of low weight, stability, strength and hygiene.
The company is very pleased to count among its customers companies known for their standard of excellence worldwide such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola and Ambev. Exports are made regularly to such destinations as Australia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Angola and Bolivia, and in Brazil NOVEL is the market leader in virtually all the products it manufactures.

Company
Novel Bahia
The
Paraná factory in Ibiporã, 500 km (310 miles) from São Paulo, was
inaugurated in 1989, with a factory area of 5000 m2 (50,000 square feet)
in a site of 20,000 m2 (200,000 square feet). Also in 1989, the Bahia
factory was transferred from Massaranduba, a Salvador suburb, to the
neighbouring town of Lauro de Freitas, in the Salvador metropolitan area,
with a factory area of 11,000 m2 (110,000 square feet) in a site of 34,430
m2 (340,000 square feet), at 6 km (4 miles) from Salvador´s international
airport. NOVEL has currently an annual production capacity of over 10,000
tons of plastic material, and generates 1050 jobs of which 350 are direct
